The Toronto Argonauts have signed American defensive lineman Jay Person and American defensive backs Robert Priester and Mark Milton.
Person most recently spent time with the New England Partriots as an undrafted free agent, though he was waived in mid-June. The six-foot-two, 233-pound defender made 228 tackles, 56 tackles for loss, 27 sacks, nine forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, and five knockdowns over 48 collegiate games at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He was a two-time AP All-American and was named the conference Defensive Player of the Year in 2022 and 2023.
Priester played five games with the Argonauts last season, recording three defensive tackles. The five-foot-nine, 180-pound defender helped Toronto win a Grey Cup in 2022, making 28 defensive tackles, four special teams tackles, one sack, and two forced fumbles. The 30-year-old native of Tampa, Fla. has also been a member of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Edmonton Elks, and XFL’s Tampa Bay Vipers.
Milton recently made his CFL debut as a member of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats but was released after making only one start at boundary cornerback. The six-foot-one, 185-pound product of Baylor University signed with the Carolina Panthers after going unselected in the 2023 NFL Draft but didn’t make the team’s final roster.
The Argonauts have also released American defensive backs Darius Joiner and Marquis Waters, the latter of whom started one game earlier this season.
The Toronto Argonauts (2-1) will visit the Saskatchewan Roughriders (3-0) on Thursday, July 4 with kickoff slated for 9:00 p.m. EDT.
