The Edmonton Elks have released American defensive end Joe Jackson.

Jackson did not dress for either of the Elks’ first two regular season games as a healthy scratch but did participate in the preseason, recording one tackle and one sack.

The six-foot-four, 278-pound defender was originally selected in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys and spent one season with the team, recording four total tackles and one pass knockdown over five games. He signed with the Cleveland Browns the following year and made five total tackles and one fumble recovery over three games.

The native of Homestead, Fla. has also been a member of the Kansas City Chiefs, Carolina Panthers, and Birmingham Stallions of the USFL. He won a USFL championship in 2023.

Jackson made 129 total tackles, 35.5 tackles for loss, 22.5 sacks, one interception, and five forced fumbles over three collegiate seasons at the University of Miami.

The Elks (0-2) will travel to Toronto this week to take on the Argonauts (1-0) on Saturday, June 22 at 7:00 p.m. EDT.
