Winnipeg Blue Bombers release four, including preseason leader Tyler Adams

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have released four American players, including receivers Tyler Adams, Peter Afful, and Jaylen Hall and offensive lineman Khalil Keith.

Adams led the Blue Bombers in receiving during the club’s 25-12 preseason loss to the Saskatchewan Roughriders, catching four passes for 61 yards. The six-foot, 190-pound native of Louisville, Ohio played his final collegiate season at Butler University where he made 39 receptions for 689 yards and five touchdowns in 11 games. Adams attended training camp with the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent in 2023.

Afful made 63 catches for 1,220 yards and 16 touchdowns over 23 collegiate games at Washburn University, a Division II program in Topeka, Kan. The five-foot-ten, 190-pound target attended rookie minicamp with the Kansas City Chiefs this past spring after going unselected in the 2023 NFL Draft. He did not register a statistic during Winnipeg’s first preseason game.

Hall began his collegiate career at Western Michigan, amassing 85 receptions for 1,532 yards and 14 touchdowns in 43 career games for the Broncos. After four seasons, the six-foot-three, 180-pound target transferred to Western Kentucky University, adding 68 receptions for 869 yards and six touchdowns in 14 games as a super senior in 2022. He was targeted once during the preseason.

Keith made 20 starts over 47 collegiate games at Baylor University at left guard and right tackle. The six-foot-five, 314-pound blocker attended rookie minicamp with the New York Giants after going unselected in the 2023 NFL Draft and has since spent time with the Philadelphia Stars of the USFL.

The Blue Bombers will wrap up their preseason on Friday, May 31 when they host the Calgary Stampeders at Princess Auto Stadium.
