The Calgary Stampeders have signed Global fullback Ron Tiavaasue to their training camp roster.

Born in Samoa but raised in New Zealand, Tiavaasue was selected with the fourth overall selection in the first round of the 2024 CFL Global Draft. He last played tight end at New Mexico State University in 2023, registering three receptions for 44 yards and a touchdown to go along with two carries for 24 yards and a major on the ground.

The six-foot-four, 275-pound blocker transferred from Utah State following the 2022 campaign, in which he suited up for four games but did not record any statistics. He began his collegiate career at Snow Junior College before moving to Missouri State, where he posted 21 receptions for 247 yards and two touchdowns in 19 games over two seasons.

Tiavaasue went unselected in the 2024 NFL Draft but recently attended rookie mini-camp with the Jacksonville Jaguars, delaying his arrival in Calgary.

The Stampeders will open their preseason on Saturday, May 25 when they host the B.C. Lions at 4:00 p.m. ET
