Hamilton Tiger-Cats place Will Sunderland on six-game injured list, sign one

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have placed American defensive back Will Sunderland on the six-game injured list.

The six-foot-two, 196-pound native of Midwest City, Okla. made 14 defensive tackles and one special teams tackle over eight games with the team last season, making four regular season starts at boundary cornerback. He originally joined the team in 2022 and made one defensive tackle in one regular season game.

Hamilton has also signed American defensive lineman Trevon Mason.

The six-foot-five, 290-pound defender was most recently a member of the Edmonton Elks, though he was released following rookie camp. The native of Arlington, Texas has also previously been a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the XFL’s Orlando Guardians.

Mason played 28 collegiate games at the University of Arizona where he made 106 total tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, and seven pass knockdowns. He originally started his collegiate career at Navarro College.

The Tiger-Cats have also released American defensive lineman Jason Lewan, American defensive back Michael Jacquet, and Canadian defensive back Frederik Lesieur and suspended American linebacker DQ Thomas.
