Edmonton Elks release well-traveled DL Eyabi Okie-Anoma

The Edmonton Elks have released American defensive lineman Eyabi Okie-Anoma.

The six-foot-five, 244-pound defender played 10 collegiate games at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2023 and made 56 total tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, one forced fumble, and one pass knockdown, earning second-team All-Conference honours.

The native of Baltimore, Md. originally committed to the University of Alabama in 2018 and played six games with the team, recording nine total tackles and two tackles for loss. He was dismissed from the program the following year for undisclosed reasons.

Okie-Anoma redshirted at the University of Houston in 2020 but was dismissed from the program before getting a chance to play. He transferred to the University of Tennessee at Martin for the 2021 season, where he recorded eight tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks.

The 24-year-old played at the University of Michigan in 2022 and made 18 total tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, and two pass knockdowns.
