Edmonton Elks sign former UAB standout RB Jermaine Brown Jr.

The Edmonton Elks have signed American running back Jermaine Brown Jr.

The five-foot-eight, 195-pound native of Prichard, Ala. played 57 collegiate games over five seasons at the University of Alabama at Birmingham where he carried the ball 596 times for 3,078 yards and 30 touchdowns. He also caught 95 passes for 789 yards and one score.

The soon-to-be 23-year-old also saw action as a return specialist, bringing back 50 kickoffs for 1,159 yards. He is the program’s all-time leader in all-purpose yards with 5,026 and was once named second-team All-Conference in 2022 and once named All-Conference honourable mention.

The Elks will open their regular season on Saturday, May 25 when they host the Saskatchewan Roughriders at Commonwealth Stadium.
