Calgary Stampeders sign former NFL DL Hamilcar Rashed Jr.

The Calgary Stampeders have signed American defensive end Hamilcar Rashed Jr. (pronounced ‘HAM-uh-kuh rah-SHEED’).

The six-foot-three, 256-pound native of Phoenix, Ariz. went unselected in the 2021 NFL Draft and has since been a member of the New York Jets, Pittsburgh Steelers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Seattle Seahawks. He played one regular season game with the Jets as a rookie, recording one tackle.

The 26-year-old played 43 collegiate games at Oregon State University where he made 143 total tackles, 36 tackles for loss, 16.5 sacks, six pass knockdowns, four forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and one blocked kick. He was named second-team All-Pac 12 in 2019.

The Stampeders have also placed Canadian fullback William Langlais on the six-game injured list. The eight-year veteran has recorded 60 special teams tackles, 24 receptions for 289 yards and two touchdowns, and one carry for three yards over 123 career CFL games.

Calgary will open the preseason on Saturday, May 25 when they host the B.C. Lions.
