The Ottawa Redblacks have signed Canadian kicker Michael Domagala. Again.

The native of St. Catharines, Ont. spent time with the Redblacks in 2023, suiting up for five games with the team late in the season. He went eight-for-nine on his field goal attempts, replacing Lewis Ward after he suffered a torn pectoral muscle.

Prior to his time with the Redblacks, Domagala was briefly with the Edmonton Elks on their practice roster before his release.

Domagala spent the 2021 and 2022 seasons as a member of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He played in 17 games in 2022, connecting on 12-of-16 field goal attempts, punting 65 times for an average of 44.4 yards, and averaging 66.6 yards on kickoffs.

The Carleton product has connected on 19-of-26 career field goal attempts and 12-of-15 extra points, while averaging 44.4 yards per punt.

The Redblacks also announced the release of Canadian defensive back Louis Lavaud.

Lavaud spent time collegiately at Carleton University where he played in 20 games with the Ravens from 2021 to 2023. The five-foot-ten, 190-pound defensive back tallied 49 total tackles, 18 assisted tackles, two tackles for loss, two interceptions, two pass break-ups, a sack, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.

The Redblacks have their first of two preseason games on May 25 against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. They will kick-off their regular season on Thursday, June 13 against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
