The Edmonton Elks have signed two American players, including offensive lineman Tairiq Stewart and defensive lineman Eyabi Okie-Anoma.

Stewart played 29 games with the North Carolina A&T Aggies after previously spending time with West Virginia and ASA Brooklyn College. The Cleveland, Ohio native was named first-team All-Big South in 2022 and second-team All-CAA in 2023.

The six-foot-six blocker most recently attended rookie camp with the New England Patriots and participated in the 2024 HBC Legacy Bowl in February.

Okie-Anoma appeared in 10 games for the University of North Carolina at Charlotte as a graduate student in 2023 where he earned second-team All-American Athletic Conference honours. He led the 49ers with five sacks and 11 tackles for loss. Prior to joining Charlotte, Okie-Anoma played collegiately with Alabama, Michigan, and UT Martin.

The Elks have also released Canadian offensive lineman Patrick Davis, American defensive lineman Aaron Adeoye, and American defensive back Malik Jones. The Elks also activated American defensive back Kyle Cass from the suspended list.

Davis was selected No. 28 overall by the Montreal Alouettes in the 2021 CFL Draft. In three seasons with the Alouettes, he appeared in 24 games.

The Elks will play their first of two preseason games when they host the Saskatchewan Roughriders on May 25.

Edmonton will also host the Riders in their season opener on Saturday, June 8.
