The Calgary Stampeders selected McGill University defensive back Ben Labrosse fourth overall in the 2024 CFL Draft.

The Greenfield Park, Que. native has a shot to vie for a spot in the NFL after accepting an invite to New York Giants rookie mini-camp.

The six-foot, 190-pound cover man did not play in 2023 due to academic issues but earned first-team All-Canadian honours at cornerback with McGill in 2022. In eight games for the Redbirds, he made 35 total tackles and three interceptions while adding 214 all-purpose yards.

Prior to his time in U Sports, Labrosse committed to Syracuse University in 2020 and appeared in nine games as a true freshman, recording 11 total tackles and one for loss. He left the team due to a playtime dispute after one game in 2021, recording three tackles versus Ohio University.

Labrosse posted impressive numbers at the 2024 CFL Combine, winning the broad jump with a leap of 11 feet, two inches. He tied for first with a 4.51-second 40-yard dash and finished second in the vertical jump with a leap of 38.5 inches while recording a 6.76-second three-cone, 4.31-second short shuttle, and 12 reps on the bench press.
