The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed Canadian defensive back Katley Joseph.

The five-foot-ten, 185-pound cornerback spent the past two seasons at the University of Saskatchewan where he was a two-time Canada West all-star and one-time first-team U Sports All-Canadian. He made 52 total tackles, two tackles for loss, 16 pass knockdowns, four interceptions, and two forced fumbles over 19 career games with the Huskies, helping them reach the Vanier Cup in 2022.

Joseph started his collegiate career at the University of Maine in 2018 where he started 17 games over his first two seasons south of the border. The 2020 season was moved to the spring of 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, though Joseph was unable to play due to a torn meniscus. He finished his tenure with the Black Bears with 54 total tackles, 14 pass deflections, and one interception.

The Ottawa native went unselected in the 2022 CFL Draft but used his remaining collegiate eligibility to earn a Master’s degree in education from Saskatchewan.

The Riders will open their 2024 regular season on Saturday, June 8 when they visit the Edmonton Elks at Commonwealth Stadium.
