Canadian defensive end Luke Brubacher has landed an NFL rookie mini-camp invite from the New York Jets, according to a post from his agent Fred Weinrauch.

The native of Listowel, Ont. was not expected to be selected in the 2024 NFL Draft but will get a chance to try out in the Big Apple alongside the team’s draft class next weekend.

The six-foot-five, 246-pound pass rusher posted explosive physical measurables at the CFL Combine in March, leaping 38 inches in the vertical and 126 inches in the broad jump. He also ran a 4.69-second forty-yard dash, 7.06-second three-cone, and 4.34-second short shuttle. Brubacher was not cleared to bench after undergoing offseason shoulder surgery but is now fully cleared.

The Wilfrid Laurier University product was a high school boxer and had never played a snap of organized football before deciding to walk on following his second year of university. He became an instant starter, collecting 61 total tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, 12 sacks, four pass deflections, and one forced fumble in 27 games over the next three seasons. He earned second-team OUA all-star honours in 2023.

Brubacher is the 19th-ranked prospect in the 2024 CFL Draft, which is scheduled for Tuesday, April 30 at 8:00 p.m. ET. His stock is not expected to be significantly affected by his NFL opportunity.
