The Toronto Argonauts have moved former NFL receiver J. J. Arcega-Whiteside to the retired list. He signed with the team in January.

The native of Utebo, Spain was a second-round pick of the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2019 NFL Draft. He spent three seasons with the team, making 16 catches for 290 yards and one touchdown over 40 career games. He started seven contests with the club and was on the field for 797 offensive snaps along with 249 snaps on special teams.

The six-foot-two, 225-pound target was traded to the Seattle Seahawks ahead of the 2022 season in exchange for defensive back Ugo Amadi. He was released by the team following a three-month stint on the practice roster and signed with the Atlanta Falcons but was cut at the end of training camp in 2023.

The 27-year-old ran a 4.50-second forty-yard dash following his career at Stanford University along with a 34-inch vertical jump. He caught 135 passes for 2,219 yards and 28 touchdowns over 33 collegiate games with the Cardinal and was named second-team All Pac 12 as a senior in 2018.

The Argonauts have also signed American offensive lineman Darta Lee, who recently spent time with the Memphis Showboats of the USFL and the Arlington Renegades of the XFL.

The six-foot-three, 313-pound blocker played collegiate at the University of Illinois, Kilgor College, and the University of Texas at El Paso.

Toronto will open their 2024 regular season on Sunday, June 9 when they host the B.C. Lions at BMO Field.
