The B.C. Lions have signed American punter Shane McDonough to their training camp roster.
The six-foot-one, 210-pound specialist spent his senior season at NC State in 2022. Over 13 games, he averaged 41.4 yards per punt on 40 kicks with 10 pinned inside the 20-yard line, earning a rookie mini-camp tryout with the Green Bay Packers last year.
The native of Clearwater, Fla. began his college career at Marshall University, before transferring to Towson University after two years without seeing game action. He punted 83 times for the Tigers in two seasons, averaging 42.3 yards per kick while landing 27 inside the 20. That earned him third-team all-conference honours in 2019, followed by a second-team selection in 2021.
The Lions will open their 2024 regular season on Sunday, June 9 when they visit the Toronto Argonauts at BMO Field.
