Longtime sportswriter Steve Milton is joining the Hamilton Sports Group to cover the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Canadian Premier League’s Forge FC.

Milton spent the last 38 years working as a columnist at the Hamilton Spectator covering the Tiger-Cats, Forge FC, Hamilton Bulldogs, and Toronto Rock with some of his work appearing on 3DownNation during part of that stint. He has covered the CFL since 1979.

“I’m truly excited for the opportunity to join the organization as a multiplatform columnist,” said Milton in a statement. “This is about building upon the great work that is already being done for both clubs and is just the next step in the evolution of providing fans with the top-tier coverage that they have become accustomed to.

“Hardcore and casual fans of the Ticats and Forge can expect the same analysis, context and, yes, Milton humour they’ve been reading in Hamilton for nearly four decades. I’m very eager to get to work and bring the fans closer to these iconic clubs, beginning with the Forge home opener on Saturday.”

Milton will provide written content from behind the scenes in Steeltown and contribute to the Ticats Audio Network and Forge Audio Network. He was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 2012 and the Canadian Figure Skating Hall of Fame in 2017.

The veteran reporter has co-authored over 25 sports books alongside legends including Angelo Mosca, Tessa Virtue, and Scott Moir and authored over 9,000 columns and stories. He has covered the Canadian Football League, Canadian Premier League, National Hockey League, the Toronto Blue Jays, the Toronto Raptors, and figure skating.
