The B.C. Lions have signed American linebacker Ayinde ‘Ace’ Eley.

The six-foot-three, 233-pound defender signed with the Carolina Panthers after going unselected in the 2023 NFL Draft, though he was waived at the conclusion of training camp.

The native of Olney, Md. started his collegiate career at the University of Maryland where he made 103 total tackles, six pass knockdowns, four forced fumbles, and two interceptions over 25 games.

Eley finished his collegiate career at Georgia Tech where he made 208 total tackles, four forced fumbles, and three pass knockdowns over 23 games, earning second-team All-ACC honours as a senior in 2022.

The Lions will open their 2024 regular season on Sunday, June 9 when they visit the Toronto Argonauts at BMO Field.
