The Toronto Argonauts have brought back American defensive back Benjie Franklin.

The six-foot, 172-pound cover man played one game with the team last season, recording four defensive tackles, one interception, and one forced fumble. He has since been a member of the San Antonio Brahmas of the UFL.

The 26-year-old went unselected in the 2022 NFL Draft but later spent time with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Seattle Seahawks, and Green Bay Packers.

Franklin played 29 collegiate games at Tarleton State in Stephenville, Texas from 2019 to 2021, making 103 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, eight interceptions, and one fumble recovery.

The Houston native started his collegiate career at Navarro College in Corsicana, Texas where he was named the Defensive Player of the Year in 2018 after making six interceptions.

Toronto will open their 2024 regular season on Sunday, June 9 when they host the B.C. Lions at BMO Field.
