The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed Canadian receiver Samuel Emilus to a contract extension through 2025. Under the terms of his previous deal, he was set to become a free agent following the upcoming season.

The six-foot-one, 200-pound target set all-new career highs in 2023 as he caught 70 passes for 1,097 yards and six touchdowns over 18 regular season games. He finished top-ten league-wide in receptions, receiving yards, receiving touchdowns, and second down conversions and was Saskatchewan’s nominee for Most Outstanding Canadian.

The Montreal native was selected with the seventh overall pick in the 2022 CFL Draft out of Louisiana Tech and dressed for 15 games as a rookie, making 10 receptions for 165 yards.

The 26-year-old is one of only five Canadian receivers in team history to record a 1,000-yard season alongside Ray Elgaard, Jeff Fairholm, Chris Getzlaf, and Andy Fantuz.

The Riders will open their 2024 regular season on Saturday, June 8 when they visit the Edmonton Elks at Commonwealth Stadium.
