The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed American defensive back DaMarcus Fields.

The six-foot, 200-pound defender signed with the New Orleans Saints after going unselected in the 2022 NFL Draft and was active for two games, though he didn’t register any statistics.

Fields joined the Washington Commanders following his release from the Saints and spent the rest of the season on their practice roster, though he was cut in training camp the following year.

The native of Taylor, Texas made 224 total tackles, 14 tackles for loss, four interceptions, four forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, and 45 pass knockdowns over 54 collegiate games at Texas Tech. He was named second-team All-Big 12 in 2021.

The Riders will open their 2024 regular season on Saturday, June 8 when they visit the Edmonton Elks at Commonwealth Stadium.
