Hillsdale College RB Michael Herzog wins vertical jump at 2024 CFL Combine

Hillsdale College running back Michael Herzog won the vertical jump at the 2024 CFL Combine with a leap of 39 inches.

The native of Windsor, Ont. recorded 430 carries for 2,273 yards and 29 touchdowns over 29 collegiate games with the Chargers along with 27 receptions for 177 yards. He missed the 2021 season due to injury but was named first-team All-Conference in 2022 and second-team All-American in 2023, as well as a finalist for the Harlon Hill Trophy. He is the younger brother of former CFL prospect Zach Herzog, who was drafted by the Saskatchewan Roughriders and spent time with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

Hillsdale College is located in Hillsdale, Mich. and competes at the NCAA Division II level in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC).

McGill defensive back Benjamin Labrosse finished second at 38.5 inches, followed by Wilfrid Laurier defensive lineman Luke Brubacher (38), South Alabama linebacker D.K. Bonhomme (37), Regina receiver D’Sean Mimbs (37), and UBC defensive back Jerrell Cummings (36.5).

The all-time vertical jump record for the CFL Combine was set by Bishop’s running back Jamall Lee in 2009 at 44 inches, followed by Bishop’s running back Steven Turner in 2010 (43.5), Calgary receiver Anthony Parker in 2011 (43), and Concordia defensive back Kris Robertson in 2013 (43).

The top performer at the 2023 CFL Combine in Edmonton was Bishop’s defensive back Jake Kelly, who was selected in the second round of the draft by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
