The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed American offensive lineman Larnel Coleman.

The six-foot-six, 310-pound blocker was a seventh-round pick of the Miami Dolphins in the 2021 NFL Draft. He spent his entire rookie season on injured reserve and dressed for one game in 2022, though he was primarily on the team’s practice roster.

The native of Malden, Ma. was claimed by the Carolina Panthers partway through the 2022 season and spent the rest of the year with them, though he was released near the end of training camp in 2023.

The 25-year-old signed with the Houston Roughnecks of the XFL in December 2023 and was selected by the Birmingham Stallions with the eighth overall pick as part of the 2024 UFL dispersal draft. He was released earlier this month.

Coleman was a three-year starter at the University of Massachusetts, starting 12 games as right tackle as a redshirt sophomore in 2018 and starting 16 games at left tackle during his redshirt junior and reshirt senior seasons in 2019 and 2020.

Winnipeg is currently without an incumbent starter at right tackle after three-time West Division all-star Jermarcus Hardrick signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in free agency, becoming the CFL’s highest-paid American offensive lineman.

The Blue Bombers will open the 2024 regular season by hosting the Grey Cup champion Montreal Alouettes at Princess Auto Stadium on Thursday, June 6.
