The Ottawa Redblacks are gearing up to celebrate the team’s ten-year anniversary season in 2024.
A number of “all-time greats” will attend the club’s regular season opener against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on June 13, including Canadian Football Hall of Fame quarterback Henry Burris. Ottawa will also host an All-Decade Game against the B.C. Lions on Aug. 24, which will be attended by other alumni and key figures from the team’s Grey Cup championship season in 2016.
“It’s hard to believe it’s been 10 years since CFL football returned to the city and we’re looking forward to a year of great football and exciting celebrations of the past decade of Ottawa Redblacks football,” said team president Adrian Sciarra in a statement. “That begins today with the official anniversary year kick off, and there will be much more to come as we move towards opening night and throughout the season.”
The Redblacks unveiled a tenth-anniversary crest (above) on Monday and will reveal a new uniform before the regular season gets underway. Other special features for 2024 will include a special musical performance and fireworks display on June 30 against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
The Redblacks have a bye during the first week of the 2024 regular season before hosting the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Thursday, June 13 at TD Place Stadium.
Ottawa has posted a record of 55-101-2 since joining the CFL in 2014, qualifying for the postseason four times. The team has appeared in three Grey Cups, winning one in 2016.
