Canadian linebacker Amen Ogbongbemiga has signed with the Chicago Bears.
The six-foot, 230-pound defender spent the past three seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers after signing with the team as an undrafted free agent. He dressed for 47 regular season games, making two starts and recording 36 total tackles, two tackles for loss, two fumble recoveries, and one sack.
Ogbongbemiga made 208 total tackles, 25 tackles for loss, nine sacks, four forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, and one interception over four collegiate seasons at Oklahoma State University. He was twice named second-team All-Big 12.
The 25-year-old ran a 4.66-second forty-yard dash at his collegiate pro day along with a 7.32-second three-cone, 4.28-second shuttle, 32-inch vertical jump, 112-inch broad jump, and 24 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press.
Ogbongbemiga was born in Lagos, Nigeria but was raised in Houston and Calgary, where he attended Notre Dame Senior High School. His exclusive CFL rights belong to the Calgary Stampeders, who selected him with the eighth overall pick in the 2021 CFL Draft.
The Bears finished at the bottom of the NFC North in 2023 with a record of 7-10. The club also recently signed Canadian-American quarterback Brett Rypien.
