An intriguing new receiver has been added to the 2024 CFL Draft in Ottawa native Jahquan Bloomfield, per sources.

The six-foot-one, 190-pound target spent the past two seasons at Prairie View A&M University, an FCS program located northwest of Houston that plays in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC). He made 13 receptions for 298 yards and two touchdowns over 17 games with the Panthers and ran for 39 yards and one score.

Bloomfield spent his first four collegiate seasons at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, redshirting in 2018. He caught 20 passes for 367 yards and one touchdown over 16 games with the Warhawks before transferring to Prairie View A&M in 2022.

The 24-year-old was born in the Nepean area of Ottawa, Ont. and raised primarily in Châteauguay, Que. He moved to the United States when he was 15 and attended high school in Katy, Texas but remains fluent in English and French.

Bloomfield will attend the CFL Combine next month alongside fellow receivers Ajou Ajou, Frederik Antoine, Kevens Clercius, Dhel Duncan-Busby, A.K. Gassama, Mohsen Jamal, D’Sean Mimbs, Kevin Mital, Darius Simmons, and Ezechiel Tieide.

There are currently four receivers on the top 20 scouting bureau rankings, including six-foot-six Oakville, Ont. native Nick Mardner, Duncan-Busby out of Bemidji State, former four-star recruit Ajou Ajou, and Mital, a one-time Hec Crighton Trophy winner.

The 2024 CFL Combine is scheduled for March 19 to 24 in Winnipeg.
