The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have re-signed American defensive end Jamal Davis II for 2024, per sources.

The six-foot-four, 250-pound defender joined the team in September 2023 following his release from the Montreal Alouettes, which came at his request. He played 18 regular season games between the two squads, recording 26 defensive tackles, two special teams tackles, and five sacks.

The 28-year-old native of Canton, Ohio has played 33 career CFL games since entering the league as a member of the Alouettes in 2021, making 53 defensive tackles, two special teams tackles, 11 sacks, and one forced fumble.

Davis II went unselected out of the University of Akron in the 2019 NFL Draft before stints with the Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, Miami Dolphins, Tennessee Titans, and Cleveland Browns. He also signed with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2022, though he returned to Montreal following his release at the conclusion of training camp.

The Ticats will open their 2024 regular season by visiting the Calgary Stampeders at McMahon Stadium on Friday, June 7.
