The Toronto Argonauts have signed American defensive back Quincy Mauger following his release from the B.C. Lions.

The six-foot, 206-pound defender appeared in all 18 games for the Lions in 2023, making 15 starts at safety and another two at strong-side linebacker. However, he was reduced to a rotational role for the playoffs.

The 28-year-old first joined the Lions ahead of the 2022 season, appearing in eight games as a rookie. In 24 career games, he has made 66 defensive tackles and nine more on special teams, adding four sacks, two interceptions, and a forced fumble.

Prior to his time in the CFL, Mauger played four years at the University of Georgia from 2013 to 2016, suiting up in 50 games and recording 186 combined tackles, seven interceptions, 12 pass knockdowns, and a forced fumble. He later spent time with the Atlanta Falcons and Oakland Raiders.

Toronto will open their 2024 regular season on Sunday, June 9 when they host the B.C. Lions at BMO Field.
