The Toronto Argonauts have signed American receiver Damonte Coxie to a one-year contract extension for the 2024 season, per sources.

The six-foot-three, 200-pound target will earn $160,000 in hard money this coming season. That’s a substantial jump from his rookie CFL contract. The East Division all-star only recently turned 27 and could have earned more on the open market but wanted to stay in Toronto.

The native of Reserve, La. made 39 catches for 787 yards with five touchdowns — averaging 20.2 yards per catch to lead the entire CFL — in 2023. Through 22 CFL games with the Argos, he has recorded 54 receptions for 997 yards and five majors.

Prior to his CFL career, Coxie played four seasons at the University of Memphis (2017-2020) where he caught 185 balls for 2,948 yards and 20 touchdowns in 41 games. He was a second-team American Athletic Conference selection in both 2018 and 2019, becoming just the second Tiger to record back-to-back 1,000-yard receiving seasons in program history.

The Argos begin the 2024 season on Sunday, June 9 at 7:00 p.m. ET when they host the B.C. Lions.
