The B.C. Lions have signed Canadian offensive lineman David Knevel to a one-year contract extension ahead of the opening of free agency on February 13.

The 29-year-old appeared in all 18 games for the Lions in 2023, taking over the starting left guard position for the final five regular season games and two playoff contests. It marked the most successful stretch of his career after he missed the entirety of the 2022 season due to injury.

Originally selected in the third round of the 2018 CFL Draft, the six-foot-eight, 325-pound blocker has dressed for 51 games with B.C. and made six starts, seeing time at both guard and tackle.

Prior to his CFL career, the Brantford, Ont. native spent four seasons at the University of Nebraska and saw action in 28 games, starting 11 of them.

The Lions will open their season on Sunday, June 9 when they visit the Toronto Argonauts.
