The Ottawa Redblacks have signed Canadian offensive lineman Dariusz Bladek to a one-year contract, per sources. The move came immediately after the team released Jacob Ruby ahead of an off-season roster bonus.

The 29-year-old was released by the Toronto Argonauts earlier this month, though he was a pending free agent. He didn’t dress for any games with the club this past season as he missed most of the year due to an ankle injury.

The six-foot-five, 305-pound blocker started 27 games at guard during the 2021 and 2022 seasons, helping Toronto win the 109th Grey Cup over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

The Bethune-Cookman product was originally selected by the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the second round of the 2017 CFL Draft. He played 45 games over three seasons with the team, serving as a starter for most of 2018 and 2019.

CFL free agency is set to get underway on Tuesday, Feb. 13 at noon EST.
