Edmonton Elks sign three, including NFL draft pick Joe Jackson

The Edmonton Elks have signed running back Sewo Olonilua, defensive lineman Joe Jackson, defensive back Malik Jones.

Olonilua rushed for 1,624 yards and 18 touchdowns over 51 games at Texas Christian University. He also made 60 receptions for 383 yards and one touchdown and was named the Offensive MVP of the Cheez-It Bowl in 2018 after rushing for a TCU-record 194 yards on 32 carries with one major.

The six-foot-three, 240-pound ball-carrier signed with the Dallas Cowboys after going unselected in the 2020 NFL Draft and dressed for two games as a rookie. He has since been a member of the Houston Roughnecks of the XFL and Orlando Guardians of the UFL.

Jackson was selected in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Cowboys and spent one season with the team, recording four total tackles and one pass knockdown over five games. He signed with the Cleveland Browns the following year after being released by Dallas and made five total tackles and one fumble recovery over three games.

The six-foot-four, 278-pound defender has since been a member of the Kansas City Chiefs, Carolina Panthers, and Birmingham Stallions of the UFL. He won a USFL championship in 2023.

The native of Homestead, Fla. made 129 total tackles, 35.5 tackles for loss, 22.5 sacks, one interception, and five forced fumbles over three collegiate seasons at the University of Miami.

Jones spent the past two seasons at Delta State University, an NCAA Division II program in Cleveland, Miss. He made 81 total tackles, five tackles for loss, seven interceptions, and 20 pass deflections in 23 games with the Statesmen and was named first-team All-Gulf South in both seasons.
