The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed American quarterback Mason Fine to a two-year contract extension, tying him to the club through 2025. He was set to become a free agent next month.

The five-foot-eleven, 190-pound passer went 1-3 as a starter this past season prior to being replaced by Jake Dolegala. He completed 94-of-136 pass attempts for 1,043 yards, three touchdowns, and five interceptions on the year and ran the ball 10 times for 57 yards.

The 26-year-old from Locust Grove, Okla. signed with the Riders as a free agent in December 2020 and spent most of his rookie season on the club’s practice roster. He has thrown for 1,797 yards, six touchdowns, and eight interceptions over 32 career CFL games.

Fine was a standout quarterback at the University of North Texas, setting all-new school records in passing yards (12,505), passing touchdowns (93), passer rating (140.7), overall touchdowns (100), completions (1,039), pass attempts (1,655), and 300-yard passing games (18).

Saskatchewan now has Fine, Trevor Harris, and Antonio Pipkin under contract for 2024. Dolegala remains a pending free agent.

CFL free agency is set to get underway on Tuesday, Feb. 13 at noon EST.
