The Ottawa Redblacks have signed Global linebacker Tyron Vrede to a one-year contract extension, tying him to the team through 2024. He was a pending free agent.
The 27-year-old dressed for four games this past season and made two starts at middle linebacker, recording 18 defensive tackles and two special teams tackles.
The six-foot, 231-pound defender has made 23 defensive tackles and 19 special teams tackles over 30 career CFL games as a member of the Redblacks.
The native of Amsterdam was selected in the second round of the 2021 CFL Global Draft following his collegiate career at the University of North Dakota during which he made 56 total tackles and three sacks.
CFL free agency is set to get underway on Tuesday, Feb. 13 at noon EST.
