The Montreal Alouettes have signed Canadian offensive lineman Justin Lawrence to a contract extension through 2025. He was already under contract for 2024.
The six-foot-one, 310-pound blocker started all 18 regular season games at centre for the Alouettes this past season, helping the club upset the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the 110th Grey Cup at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton.
“Justin has played an important role in protecting our quarterbacks. In his first year with us in 2023, he was a great fit on our offensive line,” said general manager Danny Maciocia in a statement. “He understands our playbook well and our running backs have also achieved success thanks to his blocks. We are happy to have him back.”
The Edmonton native was a fifth-round pick in the 2018 CFL Draft out of the University of Alberta. He spent four years with the Calgary Stampeders before joining the Toronto Argonauts as a free agent in 2022 when he was named an East Division all-star.
The 27-year-old has won three Grey Cups over the course of his six-year professional career.
