The Edmonton Elks have signed a pair of American defensive backs from Alabama State University, Cail Jackson Jr. and Chauncey Moore.
Jackson played the past two seasons with the Hornets after transferring from Ventura College. In 22 career games, the five-foot-11, 192-pound safety collected 63 total tackles, one sack, five interceptions, 7 pass deflections and three forced fumbles.
Moore suited up 21 games over the same span for Alabama State, recording 49 total tackles, two interceptions, five pass deflections and one forced fumble. The six-foot, 207-pound defender began his collegiate career at Temple University, appearing in 29 games with the Owls from 2019 to 2021 and recording 11 tackles.
The pair most recently took part in the third annual HBCU Pigskin Showdown in December, an all-star game for draft-eligible players from historically Black colleges and universities.
The Elks open the team’s 75th anniversary season on Saturday, June 8 by hosting the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
