It’s that time of year!
The oven gets preheated, the flour coats the counter, and the holiday baking begins!
I’m sure you’ve always wondered what Christmas treat best represents your CFL team and so we here at 3DownNation have decided to compile the definitive list.

Saskatchewan Roughriders — Peppermint Hot Chocolate
When fresh from the kettle, this heavyweight of Christmas treats is just perfect. Hot, creamy, and minty, it will warm up the belly after a long day on the toboggan hill. However, the longer it lasts, the worse the experience seems to get and if it gets cold, it will get poured down the drain instead.

B.C. Lions — Gingerbread men
The best part about a gingerbread man is that they are hardly ever alone and the next one will always be just as tasty as the last. The Lions were very much in that same vein this year given that they replaced star quarterback Nathan Rourke with Vernon Adams Jr. and the results were close to exactly the same.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers — Candy Cane Cookies
More than just a simple sugar cookie, these treats provide a twist to what is being offered elsewhere on the cookie table. While other cookies may have a similar dough, it’s the balance between the red and white dough being tightly intertwined that makes it seem like more effort has been put in than its standard counterparts.

Edmonton Elks — Fruitcake
When this shows up to the party with its odd collection of ingredients, you question the guest’s feelings towards you as a host. There is just no way anyone is going to enjoy this as it is and it will likely get tossed in the trash at the end of the night.

Ottawa Redblacks — Christmas Cracker Candy
With chocolate and toffee melted onto some saltines with sprinkles thrown on top, there is a temptation to be hesitant when assessing if this treat will be any good. However, once you taste this mix of sweet and salty, you must respect the ingenuity, if not the results.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats — Peanut Brittle
While never the winner at the table, peanut brittle is always a top contender. No matter which nut you decide to put into the brittle, it will always be gone by the end of the night. Despite never finishing first, it’s still a consistently great treat.

Calgary Stampeders — Butter Tarts
A longtime winner and a staple of Canadian Christmas baking trays, the butter tart is simple, without extravagance. When it comes to the Christmas treat table, you expect them to be there and they rarely disappoint.

Toronto Argonauts — Butter Tarts with raisins
The Argos took a great recipe with a lot of the same ingredients and added a few new pieces to make it taste even better. You may have even picked one of these up and confused it with a regular butter tart until you bit into it and realized the subtle differences.

Montreal Alouettes — Shortbread Cookies
The current king of the mountaintop, shortbread cookies get right to the heart of the matter without anything fancy. Often crudely iced, they may not look like the prettiest treat on the table, but they absolutely get the job done when called upon.
Enjoy the holidays and happy snacking!
