The Calgary Stampeders have inked American defensive tackle Mike Rose to a two-year contract extension that will keep him with the team through 2025.
The six-foot-two, 269-pound pass rusher set a new career-high with 11 sacks in 2023, adding 24 defensive tackles, one forced fumble and one recovery. He was named a CFL all-star for a third consecutive season in the process.
“Mike makes us a better team,” Stampeders general manager and head coach Dave Dickenson said in a statement. “He’s consistently been one of our best players and one of the top defensive linemen in the league and we need him to continue that going into 2024.”
The 31-year-old arrived in Calgary prior to the 2017 season. In 68 career regular-season games, he has amassed 124 defensive tackles, five special teams tackles, 30 sacks, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, one interception and three knockdowns.
“I’m here to turn the tide because I didn’t like the way things went last season,” Rose said as part of the team’s announcement. “I want to help build a culture and win games.”
The Stampeders are slated to begin their 2024 season on Friday, June 7 when they host the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at 9:00 p.m. ET.
