The Ottawa Redblacks have signed American defensive back Brandin Dandridge to a two-year contract extension that will keep him with the team through 2025.
The 27-year-old two-phase weapon had a career year in 2023, notching 24 defensive tackles in 13 games and adding five interceptions, two of which were returned for touchdowns. He was also named the team’s nominee for Most Outstanding Special Teams Player after returning 45 punts for 539 yards and a touchdown, as well as 15 kickoffs for 328 yards.
“Ottawa is the only CFL city I’ve called home and I’m looking forward to sticking around for at least two more years,” Dandridge said in a statement. “We have unfinished business to take care of as a team and I’m fortunate to be able to come back and help us do that.”
The Missouri Western State product has been with the Redblacks since 2019, save for a brief stint with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2022. In 31 career CFL games, he has recorded 61 defensive tackles, nine interceptions and two defensive touchdowns.
“Brandin Dandridge has continued to develop during his time in Ottawa and play at a very high level for our football club,” general manager Shawn Burke said as part of the announcement. “We’re happy Brandin has chosen to commit to the REDBLACKS for two years and are looking forward to seeing him back on the field in 2024.”
The Redblacks will begin their 2024 season when they host the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Thursday, June 13 at 7:30 p.m. ET.
