Canadian defensive lineman Lake Korte-Moore took advantage of an opportunity to dip his toe into the world of professional wrestling, though he remains focused on his football career with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
The 24-year-old recently participated in a tryout at the WWE Performance Center, a three-day program designed to give prospective professional wrestlers an idea of how it would feel to work in the WWE.
The six-foot-four, 262-pound defender was scouted by the organization based on his age, size, looks, personality, and athletic ability. The WWE covered all of his expenses to attend the event in Orlando, Fla. alongside 14 other athletes, some of whom also had backgrounds in high-level football.
Korte-Moore has no plans to pursue professional wrestling until after his professional football career is over, as per his agent Ray Haija, but welcomed the opportunity to take part in the program. Most of the events weren’t physical in nature, which nullified any risk of potential injury.
The Ottawa native was the third overall pick in the 2023 CFL Draft and made 13 tackles, two special teams tackles, and one sack over 18 games as a rookie in Riderville. He made one start at defensive end in place of an injured Anthony Lanier II and remains under contract with Saskatchewan through the 2025 season.
Korte-Moore ran a 5.04-second forty-yard dash at the CFL Combine in March 2023 and recorded 18 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press, a 35-inch vertical, a 7.71-second three-cone drill, a 4.55-second short shuttle, and a nine-foot, eight-inch broad jump.
Over 29 collegiate games with the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds, Korte-Moore made 65.5 total tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, nine sacks, three pass knockdowns, two interceptions, and two forced fumbles.
