The Edmonton Elks have signed American defensive back James Wiggins.
The native of Miami, Fla. was a member of the USFL’s New Orleans Breakers this past season and made nine total tackles, two interceptions, and one forced fumble in three games.
The 26-year-old was originally a seventh-round pick of the Arizona Cardinals in the 2021 NFL Draft and dressed for three games as a rookie, playing 35 snaps on special teams. He has also been a member of the Kansas City Chiefs and Green Bay Packers.
The five-foot-eleven, 209-pound cover man played four collegiate seasons at the University of Cincinnati and made 87 tackles, one sack, and five interceptions in 32 games. He was named first-team All-AAC as a senior in 2020.
