Calgary Stampeders sign three, including two former Saskatchewan Roughriders

The Calgary Stampeders have signed three Americans, including running back B.J. Emmons, receiver Isaiah Epps, and defensive lineman Cody Roscoe.

Emmons spent time on the practice roster with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2022 and participated in training camp with the club in 2023, recording six carries for 27 yards and one catch for seven yards in the preseason.

The six-foot, 220-pound ball-carrier began his collegiate career at the University of Alabama where he carried the ball 35 times for 173 yards and one touchdown as a freshman in 2016 as part of a backfield rotation that included future NFLers Damien Harris, Bo Scarborough, and Josh Jacobs. He later transferred to Hutchinson Community College before finishing his NCAA eligibility at Florida Atlantic University.

The 26-year-old went unselected in the 2021 NFL Draft but was signed by the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent. He was released prior to training camp and joined the Las Vegas Raiders with him he recorded 24 carries for 90 yards and a touchdown in three preseason games, though he didn’t make the roster. He also had a stint in the USFL.

Epps attended rookie mini-camp with the Cleveland Browns earlier this year after going unselected in the 2023 NFL Draft. The six-foot-two, 190-pound target caught 37 passes for 429 yards and five touchdowns at Tulsa after transferring from Kentucky, where he made 31 catches for 365 yards and one touchdown with the Wildcats.

Roscoe played five games with the Riders over the past two seasons, recording four tackles, one sack, and one forced fumble. The six-foot-one, 255-pound edge rusher made 150 tackles, 44.5 tackles for loss, 26.5 sacks, six forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, one interception, and 12 knockdowns over his collegiate career split between McNeese State and Syracuse University.
