Canadian receiver Sam Emilus worked out for the Arizona Cardinals on Tuesday, per sources.

The 26-year-old produced 1,097 yards on 70 receptions, 15.7 yards per catch, with six touchdowns for the Saskatchewan Roughriders during the 2023 season. What made his first 1,000-yard campaign even more impressive was doing it with three different quarterbacks throwing him the football: Trevor Harris, Mason Fine, and Jake Dolegala.

Emilus had multiple ultra-athletic grabs that caught the attention of NFL scouts on film. The Cardinals knows the Montreal, QC native better than most teams south of the border because he attended rookie mini-camp in Arizona in May 2022. Saskatchewan selected him in the first round, seventh overall during the 2022 CFL Draft.

At his University of Massachusetts pro day, the six-foot-one, 200-pound receiver ran a 4.59-second forty-yard dash while clocking a 4.13-second shuttle and 6.88 three-cone drill. He leapt 37 inches in the vertical jump, 128 inches in the broad jump and recorded nine reps of 225 pounds on the bench press.

Emilus played three seasons with the Minutemen (2018-2020) and made 59 receptions for 653 yards with seven touchdowns over 21 games. He transferred to Louisiana Tech University for the 2021 season where he made 16 catches for 245 yards and three touchdowns over seven contests.

While growing up in Quebec, he played CEGEP football for Vanier College, posting 100 receptions for 1,921 receiving yards and 21 touchdowns. The multi-sport athlete played football, basketball, and soccer at Cure-Antoine-Labelle Secondary School.

Following his strong sophomore season in the CFL, Emilus was named the Riders’ Most Outstanding Canadian.
