The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have re-signed Canadian defensive back Stavros Katsantonis to a two-year contract extension.

The 27-year-old suited up in 18 regular season games and one playoff game for the Ticats in 2023, amassing 56 total tackles, one tackle for loss, two quarterback sacks, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, five interceptions, five pass knockdowns and one defensive touchdown.

The five-foot-10, 188-pound ballhawk was selected in the fourth round, 36th overall, in the 2020 CFL Draft and was named the team’s Most Outstanding Canadian in 2023.

The Bakersfield, California native took over the starting safety role for the Tiger-Cats midway through the 2023 season and was scheduled to become a free agent in February.
