The Edmonton Elks signed Canadian defensive back Bruno Lagacé, the team announced on Thursday.
The five-foot-11, 195-pound defender was selected by the Elks in the seventh round, 56th overall, in the 2023 CFL Draft but opted to return to the Université de Montreal for his final season, helping the team win the 58th Vanier Cup last Saturday with a 16-9 victory over the University of British Columbia.
The 25-year-old native of Boucherville, Quebec appeared in 35 games over five years with the Carabins, registering 90 total tackles, five interceptions, four tackles for loss and two fumble recoveries. He was named a Quebec Conference all-star in 2021 and 2023, as well as a USports second-team All-Canadian in 2021.
