The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed general manager Kyle Walters to a two-year contract extension.
The 50-year-old has served as the club’s general manager since he took over on an interim basis during the 2013 season. He has since posted a 98-72 regular season record and helped the team reach the postseason seven consecutive times. The Blue Bombers have represented the West Division in the last four Grey Cups, winning two.
Walters was on an expiring contract and made it clear during Grey Cup week in Hamilton that he wanted to be back as the club’s general manager in 2024.
Assistant general managers Ted Goveia and Danny McManus have also agreed to extensions with the team, the lengths of which were not announced. Goveia, who also serves as the club’s director of player personnel, resides in Burlington, Ont., while McManus, who is also Winnipeg’s director of U.S. scouting, lives in Florida.
Walters is now under contract through 2025, matching the length of head coach Mike O’Shea’s most recent extension.
