Former CFL DB Erik Harris joins practice roster with San Francisco 49ers

Former CFL defensive back Erik Harris has joined the practice roster with the San Francisco 49ers, per multiple reports.

The six-foot-two, 225-pound defender played three seasons with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats from 2013 to 2015, making 79 defensive tackles, 27 special teams tackles, and three interceptions at strong-side linebacker.

The native of Los Angeles, Calif. has since had NFL stints with the New Orleans Saints, Oakland Raiders, Atlanta Falcons, and now the 49ers.

The 33-year-old has dressed for 91 career NFL games with 43 starts, recording 267 total tackles, seven tackles for loss, 28 pass knockdowns, five interceptions, one forced fumble, and 0.5 sacks.

Talanoa Hufanga, San Francisco’s Pro Bowl safety, recently suffered a torn ACL and will be out for the rest of the season.

The 49ers (8-3) currently sit atop the NFC West standings. They will visit the Philadelphia Eagles (10-1) on Sunday, Dec. 3 with kickoff slated for 3:25 p.m. EST.
