The B.C. Lions have signed three players from their 2023 draft class, including linebacker Markcus Jean-Loescher and defensive backs Jassin States-McClean and Charlie Ringland.
Jean-Loescher was a fourth-round pick out of Saint Mary’s University where he made 79 total tackles, six tackles for loss, two sacks, and three pass knockdowns over 18 games. The six-foot-two, 225-pound defender from Toronto is the son of Nautyn Mckay-Loescher, who played 55 games over four seasons with the Lions, winning the Grey Cup in 2006.
States-McClean was taken in the sixth round out of Saint Mary’s University and participated in training camp before returning to the Huskies for his final year of U Sports eligibility, recording 11 tackles, one tackle for loss, one interception, and two pass knockdowns over six games. The Halifax attended the East-West Bowl in 2022.
Ringland missed the entire 2023 season due to a torn ACL he suffered at the CFL Combine in Edmonton. The six-foot-one, 198-pound native of Winnipeg made 86 tackles, 15 pass knockdowns, four interceptions, three forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery as a member of the Saskatchewa Huskies, helping the team reach the Vanier Cup in back-to-back seasons.
