The Saskatchewan Roughriders have inked American quarterback Antonio Pipkin to a contract extension.
The six-foot-three, 225-pound short-yardage specialist was acquired by the Riders in a mid-season trade with the Tiger-Cats in August, sending Global punter Kaare Vedvik to Hamilton. He suited up in nine games, recording 25 rushing attempts for 49 yards and five touchdowns while connecting on a single passing attempt for 57 yards.
The 28-year-old has bounced around the CFL since his arrival in 2017, spending time with the Ti-Cats, Montreal Alouettes, Toronto Argonauts, Edmonton Elks, and B.C. Lions. In 63 career games, Pipkin has completed 142 of 261 passing attempts for 1,903 yards and six touchdowns, while adding 153 carries for 635 yards and 26 majors on the ground.
The native of Gary, Ind. attended Tiffin University in Ohio and broke every major passing record for the program. He racked up over 10,000 passing yards and threw for 88 touchdowns over 44 career games. He also contributed along the ground with over 2,000 rushing yards and 25 touchdowns.
