Saskatchewan Roughriders’ DL Bryan Cox Jr. named CFL’s top performer for Week 20 by PFF

Saskatchewan Roughriders’ defensive lineman Bryan Cox Jr. has been named the CFL’s top performer for Week 20 by Pro Football Focus (PFF).

The rookie defender recorded three defensive tackles, two sacks, and one forced fumble during his team’s 29-26 loss to the Toronto Argonauts. He received a grade of 86.9 on 51 defensive snaps, 38 of which saw him rush the passer.

Toronto Argonauts’ quarterback Chad Kelly was the highest-graded offensive player of the week with a score of 85.8. The second-year passer completed 72 percent of this passes for 275 yards and one touchdown before giving way to backup Cameron Dukes late in the game.

The Calgary Stampeders had the league’s highest-graded offensive line this past week following their 41-16 upset win over the B.C. Lions, earning a group grade of 75.3. Left guard Zack Williams was the highest-graded individual at 62.9, followed by sixth man Bryce Bell (62.8) and right guard Ryan Sceviour (61.1).

The CFL partnered with PFF for the first time ahead of the 2023 season. The American company uses game footage to review every player on the field and grades their individual performances on a scale from zero to 100.

The league unveils the top-graded players from PFF each week. Offensive and defensive players must play a minimum of 25 snaps to be eligible and special teams players must play at least 10. Ties are broken by the number of snaps played.
