B.C. Lions’ quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. has been named the CFL’s top performer for Week 19 by Pro Football Focus (PFF).
The veteran completed 21-of-30 pass attempts for 296 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception and recorded one carry for one yard to help lead his team to a 33-30 victory over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, earning a grade of 91.4.
The win helped keep B.C.’s hopes of hosting the West Final alive as they look to leapfrog the Winnipeg Blue Bombers atop the West Division standings. This mark the third time this season that Adams has been named to PFF’s honour roll.
Edmonton Elks’ defensive back Marloshawn Franklin Jr. has been named the top defensive performer of the week, earning a grade of 89.6. He made a career-high seven defensive tackles and his first career interception at safety, albeit in a losing effort.
B.C.’s unit was the top-graded offensive line of the week, earning a group grade of 81.6. Left tackle Jarell Broxton earned the highest individual grade (81.6), followed by right guard Sukh Chungh (66.1) and right tackle Kent Perkins (65.8).
The CFL partnered with PFF for the first time ahead of the 2023 season. The American company uses game footage to review every player on the field and grades their individual performances on a scale from zero to 100.
The league unveils the top-graded players from PFF each week. Offensive and defensive players must play a minimum of 25 snaps to be eligible and special teams players must play at least 10. Ties are broken by the number of snaps played.
